Guidebook's Geology Expert Puts Yellowstone Visitors'
Minds at Ease

Providence, RI, 4/11/05—Americans who have watched the recent "factual drama" on national TV or read news stories about the Yellowstone supervolcano may be wondering if they dare to visit Yellowstone National Park this year. According to geologist Bruno J. Giletti: "I don't think we should be worried about an imminent supervolcano eruption. We would need a great deal more magma below the Yellowstone caldera's surface, and there's no evidence for that." Our interview with him at www.yellowstonetreasures.com/supervolcano.htm tells more.

Dr. Giletti wrote "The Stories in Yellowstone's Rocks," a chapter in the new edition of Yellowstone Treasures: The Traveler's Companion to the National Park, by Janet Chapple. Thousands of visitors have enjoyed using this prizewinning four-color guide on trips to Yellowstone. Many have called it indispensable. The book covers every road and village in the park and discusses the animals, plants, and geological and human history of the area. The first edition won a Book of the Year Award from ForeWord Magazine in 2002. The second edition gives updated information on wolves, the campgrounds, and the ever-changing geysers.

Yellowstone Treasures, updated second edition (ISBN: 0-9706873-1-1), will be available in May for $21.95 from online and local bookstores, and at Yellowstone Park shops. It is sold to the trade by IPG of Chicago, 800-888-4741. The YellowstoneTreasures.com Web site lets travelers explore the book. Granite Peak Publications has published Yellowstone Treasures since 2002. Other Greater Yellowstone books are in the works.
