Something to crow about

In less than two weeks Granite Peak Publications will know the results of this country’s most prominent small press book publishing competition for 2010. Yellowstone Treasures: The Traveler’s Companion to the National Park, Updated Third Edition, is one of three finalists in the Independent Book Publishers Association Benjamin Franklin Awards Competition. I’ll be traveling to New York to attend the ceremony, as well as learning more about publishing from IBPA’s Publishing University and from the Book Expo America that follows it.
The Ben Franklin competition is stiff. In the Travel category, any book published by an independent publisher that deals with travel, from essays about backpacking through Africa to guidebooks to Beijing or the White Mountains, can be entered. This year, the other finalists are: The Complete Walt Disney World 2010, and Photographing Oregon.
If you’re a fan of Yellowstone Treasures, keep your fingers crossed for me!
