New Guidebook to Yellowstone National Park Provides Mile-by-Mile Information for Both Well-Known and Hidden Sights

Providence, RI—January 15, 2002: For the first time since the 1960s, a truly comprehensive guide to all the places of interest along 350 miles of park roads has been published. A Montana native with a lifelong love of Yellowstone has written a book that includes the geological and historical background of the area. Yellowstone Treasures: The Traveler's Companion to the National Park leads curious families and older visitors to geyser basins, wildlife-viewing spots, waterfalls, and unique, quiet vistas.

Unlike other Yellowstone guidebooks now in print, Yellowstone Treasures is remarkable for its thorough coverage of all park features, not just describing but also explaining Yellowstone's amazing phenomena.

Yellowstone Treasures will enhance a trip by car, bus—or even by armchair—with its road logs, helpful maps, artist's sketches, and nearly 200 color and black and white photos. Chapters on history, animals and plants, and the 1988 fires, as well as a bibliography and a thorough index, make this a valuable reference book.

Author Janet Chapple's lifelong interest in Yellowstone and nature spurred her on in the five years she spent researching and writing this book. Her husband Bruno J. Giletti, Professor Emeritus of Geological Sciences at Brown University, wrote the guidebook's geology chapter.

Yellowstone Treasures is published by Granite Peak Publications LLC, in Rhode Island. The paperback trade book is selling now at the book's companion Web site, www.yellowstonetreasures.com, and will be available in February for $19.95 in U.S. bookstores ($29.95 in Canada).
