October 2012

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the Yellowstone Treasures website, which shares with you the diversity of marvelous treasures found in America's first national park. This is the companion site to the comprehensive guidebook of the same name. Here we suggest features you might want to visit and short hikes to take on a trip to Yellowstone. You'll see photographs of many of Yellowstone's treasures, including geysers and hot pools, wildlife and flowers, the incomparable Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and Yellowstone Lake.

Yellowstone Treasures turned ten years old in 2012. Actually, as its writer and publisher, I began researching and writing the book in 1995.

Editor, assistant publisher, and webmaster Beth Chapple came on board when we decided to publish the book independently, and she is not the only family member or friend who has helped along the way. I want to thank my daughters Beth, Karen, and Nancy for helping get Granite Peak Publications off the ground, and my husband Bruno Giletti for writing about the geology of Yellowstone, for taking many photos, helping with field work, and for every kind of support during these years. Over 50,000 customers have rewarded our efforts.

We hope you enjoy the words and pictures of Yellowstone Treasures. They represent a lifelong involvement with and love for this park.

Best wishes,
Janet Chapple
